Rules and Procedures of AP Legislature
Article 208 (I) of the Indian Constitution empowers each House of Legislature of a State to make Rules for regulating its procedures and conduct of its business. In pursuance of the said article the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh, immediately after the formation of the State of Andhra Pradesh has framed its own rules of procedures. These rules were broadly based on the rules of procedures and conduct of business that was in force, previously, in the Legislative Assembly of the Andhra State.
The reconstitution of the Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh on 30th March, 2007 has necessitated a comprehensive review of the rules. An in-depth study has been made and several amendments have been recommended.
