Youth in Legislature

The Youth and Legislature programme, introduced in the AP legislature, is aimed at providing the students - the young citizens and future leaders, an opportunity to learn the Legislative process, build a spirit of leadership in them, and to transform them into more informed, knowledgeable and active citizens of both the State and the Nation.

By bringing together the young citizens from different sections of the society to interact, discuss and debate on various issues related to community services, civil responsibility etc, the Andhra Pradesh Legislature aims at cultivating leadership skills and building confidence in the future leaders of the State and our Country.

Marking the start of this innovative initiative, the Andhra Pradesh Legislature invited 40 Students of various rural schools from Ranga Reddy and Medak Districts to participate in a one-day debate on 15th Oct, 2011. The Students voiced their opinions regarding the rights and responsibilities of youth on matters ranging  local government level to matters of State-wide importance.

Through these initiatives, the students become involved in community service, appreciate diversity, learn to communicate their ideas to others, discuss and shepherd Legislation through Legislative process, understand effective civil participation skills, and ultimately make a difference in the civil life
